The Center for Wooden Boats 50th Anniversary Party

Join us as we celebrate 50 years on the water

For 50 years, The Center for Wooden Boats has connected people to Seattle’s living maritime heritage through hands-on experiences, small boats, restoration, craftsmanship, and time spent together on Lake Union.

This milestone year is a moment to celebrate everyone who has helped shape CWB, founders and longtime volunteers, boatwrights and sailors, members and donors, youth program families, community partners, staff, and friends old and new. Whether you have been part of CWB for decades or are just discovering us, we hope you will join us for a joyful evening on the waterfront.

Event Details

Saturday, August 22, 2026
5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The Center for Wooden Boats, Lake Union Park
Tickets: $15

Enjoy an evening of heavy appetizers, an open bar, live music, and community as we gather to honor CWB’s first 50 years and look ahead to the next chapter.

This will be a relaxed, festive reunion-style celebration, a chance to reconnect, share stories, explore the campus, and celebrate the living legacy of wooden boats in Seattle.

Why We’re Celebrating

Since 1976, CWB has grown from a simple but powerful idea, that maritime heritage should be hands-on, accessible, and shared, into one of Seattle’s most beloved waterfront institutions.

Today, more people are connecting with CWB than ever before through free boating programs, youth sailing, field trips, workshops, boat rentals, restoration projects, volunteer opportunities, and public access to Lake Union. Our historic fleet, floating campus, and community programs continue to bring people together through the building, exploring, and use of small boats.

As we celebrate this anniversary, we are also preparing for the future, investing in our docks, historic wooden boats, public programs, and the next generation of maritime learning.
