Adults and families can have fun learning together on the water through our signature sailing programs. With options for private lessons, flexible scheduling, and a range of courses from beginner to intermediate, sailing at The Center for Wooden Boats is fun and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
This is the signature CWB learn-to-sail program for adults and families. Students learn basic boat handling skills that are the foundation for a lifetime of sailing.
This 1.5 hour class will introduce you to the basics of sailing. Topics will include terminology for parts of the boat and points of sail, as well as the basic theory of sailing. With the class you will receive to the CWB Sailing Primer!
WORK ONE ON ONE with an instructor to identify skills to focus on and improve your sailing. Private lessons are perfect for new sailors with busy schedules, experienced sailors wanting a refresher, or anyone who wants tips for sailing wooden boats on Lake Union.
In partnership with Anacortes-based Shearwater University, The Center for Wooden Boats is excited to offer the US Sailing/Us Powerboating Coastal Navigation Certification.
This refresher is for Sailors who have a current Livery Card at The Center for Wooden Boats, but have not sailed in a while and wish to sail with an instructor’s supervision before going out on their own again.
Expand your horizons! This add-on to SailNOW! is a US Sailing accredited Basic Keelboat Checkout clinic that includes a practical and written evaluation.

Have fun racing in classic wooden boats! RaceNOW! is an opportunity for intermediate skippers and crew to learn the fundamentals of sailboat racing. Each evening includes racing strategy, tactics and the basics of the racing rules.
