Leslie Smith

Youth Programs Manager

CWB is where I have created some of my closest friendships, learned so many valuable lessons, and overall has become my second home. Without CWB I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.

Leslie spent her summers down on the docks of South Lake Union taking summer camps here at CWB. After teaching skiing for a season she started to discover her passion for teaching and education which led her to become a junior sailing instructor. Starting this journey led her to create so many friendships and a community that later encouraged her to get her US Sailing Level one instructor certification to become a youth sailing instructor for camps. She loves being able to meet new students every week and encourages her students to pursue their own passions.

You can often find Leslie reorganizing the outdoor classroom, doing a funny dance on the docks, or teaching students her favorite fun facts.

Outside of CWB she is currently working on earning her BA in liberal arts with a concentration in Global and Social Justice. She hopes to then attend graduate school for teaching and curriculum. She also loves skiing, musical theatre, volunteering at the elementary school library, hanging out with her two younger siblings, and going to concerts with her friends.

What is your favorite tool?

“A pen! I was once told to always have a pen with me and it has not failed me yet. I love jotting down lists and notes on post it notes to keep me organized.”
