Jen studied biology in college and spent summers at Walla Walla University’s Rosario Beach campus next to Deception Pass and grad school for marine biology at U of O’s OIMB campus on the Oregon Coast. While she yearned to learn how to sail, but never had any sailing influences in her life, she started to go out on a variety of power vessels. Prior to her time at CWB, she worked for over 20 years in cancer care starting as a lab tech and moving up to administration. During this time she took her first sailing lesson in 2005 and joined Island Sailing Club in Olympia. Ever since then, she’s been hooked and has crewed in the Salish Sea, Sea of Cortez, and the Pacific Coast of N. America from Juneau, Alaska to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She took the US Maritime Academy Captain’s Class at CWB in 2015 and was a teaching assistant for USMA 2017-2019, and is currently waiting for her Instructor’s license. Jen currently lives on her 1983 Catalina 30, Rejoyce, with her Texas Heeler, Shasta. When Jen is not being a rockstar managing operations for our two locations, she is traveling, hiking and reading.
