About the Instructors
Steve Steakley: Steve’s experience includes 20 years of sailing inland and offshore waters, a 50 ton Inland Masters USCG captains license, and author of From Dreaming the Dream to Sailing Away: Buying the Perfect Boat. The experience of buying a 42’ offshore cruising sailing vessel, taught him several things that were not included in all the “How to Buy a Boat” books. Recently the experience of buying a 36’ sailing vessel for Puget Sound he realized he had the missing links to all those other books. Sharing these resource tools to help others find their boat is now the adventure.

Margaret Pommert: A certified instructor and US Coast Guard licensed captain, Margaret Pommert is an avid Pacific Northwest sailor, powerboater, racer, and cruiser. When not on the water, she promotes Safety at Sea and women in boating through organizations like The Sailing Foundation and Northwest Women in Boating.
