Join the hundreds of active volunteers who lend a hand in almost everything we do! We look for volunteers who have sailing experience or are looking for sailing experience, enjoy the water, love sharing history, or are looking to try a new experience.

To Get Started as a CWB Volunteer:

1.    Fill out an online application
2.    Attend a volunteer orientation
3.    Sign up for on-going or special event opportunities online

You will need to attend a volunteer orientation and training in your program area before volunteering. We ask that you not just show up to volunteer; we schedule all volunteers in advance.
Volunteer orientations are held the second Saturday of each month from 10:00am to noon at our Seattle location.

Many CWB volunteer opportunities are designed for ages 18 and up. If you are under the age of 18 please call for more information about current youth volunteer opportunities before attending an orientation.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for short-term and ongoing help in the following areas:

• Front desk – be the face of CWB for a few hours a week. Greet visitors, assist with the gift shop, and answer general questions about CWB.

• Helping Hands – assist us in mailing, folding, and copying. We will host work parties every Friday from 12:00pm-4:00pm. We are looking for volunteers to assist us with administrative tasks.

• Special Events – our annual  4th of July Festival,  Auction (February), Breakfast for Boats, Membership events, Regatta, and more!

• Livery – help us get people on the water. This involves moving boats , greet visitors, answering questions about our boat collection.

• Boat Shop – get involved in ongoing restoration projects, a majority of this work includes; sanding, painting, and varnishing.

• Sailing Instructors and Public Rides – experienced sailors are always in demand to teach lessons. We offer FREE Public sails on Sundays throughout the year.

• Pond Boats – assist with our visitors in sailing model pond boats. This opportunity occurs every Sunday from 11:00am-2:00pm throughout the year.

• Membership – volunteers who clock enough hours earn a membership qualifying them for discounts on rentals, classes and more

• Learning – develop valuable maritime and jobs skills while volunteering

• Free Boat Use – 3 hours of volunteering earns one hour of boat use time in the livery

• Parties – enjoy our volunteer “Swizzles” throughout the year
