Cost: $80 members / $95 nonmembers

Greg Gilbert, Seattle Times photographer for more than 35 years, and classic yacht owner, will lead you on a journey around CWB for some great boat photos. Meet at CWB Saturday morning for guidelines and to photograph some beautiful classic boats. Then, for part 2, meet at CWB on the following Tuesday to board Greg's classic yacht for a photo session on the Lake. That night, our subjects will be sailboats on Lake Union taking part in the weekly Duck Dodge. Greg will manuever his boat for some great angles. We'll be on the water until the light fades. For part 3, we'll gather again on some future night to share our photos and get a critique from Greg. Limit: 8 students.

Join Greg Gilbert for a special photographic journey around the bustling activity of CWB’s 30th Annual Wooden Boat Festival. Meet at CWB for guidelines and then photograph some beautiful classic boats. Return the following Saturday to take in the many visiting boats at the festival. For part 3, we’ll gather again to share our photos and get a critique from Greg.
Limit: 8 students.

Learn to make this Western red and Alaskan yellow cedar “necklace”, incorporating Irish waxed linen thread in various colors. Start by plaiting
western red cedar bark, then twine and add a design in waxed linen thread. Embellish your necklace with your favorite beads or charms.

How to Feed Your Crew... and Shipboard Life
Instructor: JoAnn O’Connor
Dates: March 30 & April 6, 2006 (Saturdays)
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (at CWB)
TBA – Overnight transit trip on
the historic schooner ZODIAC
Cost: $300 members / $350 non-members
Learn how to plan and provision for an adventure on the water. Class will consist of menu planning, provisioning, stowing and cooking. If you have a boat, please bring your concerns and be prepared to give a description of your galley and stowage areas. We will prepare a simple meal both of those nights at CWB. The first session will consist of going over your galley needs, menu planning, provisioning and stowing. The second session will be menu planning and provision for our overnight transit trip on the ZODIAC. We will also discuss how to plan for long voyages. The third session will be an actual trip to provision the ZODIAC for the transit. We will load all provisions and our gear the night prior to leaving for an overnight trip from Seattle to Bellingham. Handouts include simple tried and true menus for the care and feeding of your crew, basic provisioning lists and cooking gear. All food is included in the cost of the class. You will be responsible for bring your own gear and bedding for the trip on board the ZODIAC. You will also be responsible for your return to Seattle (bus or train from Fairhaven Terminal in Bellingham where the ZODIAC will dock).Class is limited to 15 students. You do not need to own a boat to take this class.
