Parks! CWB...and more parks! This spring and summer, a new park will open at each of The Center for Wooden Boats' sites. On April 30, Lake Union Park in Seattle will celebrate its first public opening, while June 21 marks the opening of Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island. At Lake Union Park, the public will be able to walk through 1.6 acres of green space embraced by Lake Union and relax on terraced steps overlooking the water. From 11am - 1pm on April 30, The Seattle Parks Foundation, The Center for Wooden Boats and other maritime groups at Lake Union will provide a free salmon barbeque, live music, boat rides, historic vessels, educational activities, demonstrations, and prizes. CWB recently signed an agreement with Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission for a 30-year lease at Cama Beach State Park. Cama Beach programming will include boat livery and classes on a mile-long beach in Puget Sound's most pristine area. Opening festivities begin at 10 am on June 21. We are excited to be working together with the city and the state in both parks, and our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the many members and volunteers whose support fuels milestone events like these.
