The 110-year-old, 165-foot ship has become a fixture at Lake Union Park as well as the center of recent controversy regarding her future. CWB welcomes the public November 16 to learn about the increasingly significant stories from her past. Joe Follansbee, author of Shipbuilders, Sea Captains and Fishermen: The Story of the Schooner Wawona, will regale visitors with more than just dry statistics of this historic landmark. Come out and help revolutionize self-guided boating in Lake Union. Through a fun new partnership with Washington Water Trails Associations, MOHAI and the Rotary Club of Lake Union, as well as funding from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, CWB has been working to produce a self-guided boating tour highlighting the historic sites on beautiful Lake Union and Portage Bay. But before we can release the completed version to the public we need your help to test it. On November 17, CWB, in partnership with Northwest Outdoor Center and other Lake Union boat rental facilities, will host between 50 and 80 volunteers willing to give up their time to take a free row, kayak or ride around the lake to test the new tour guide and provide feedback upon completion.
