A not insignificant number of you have spent many hours (some of you years) in meetings and planning sessions to enable this project to get off the ground. Now, our need for help from our volunteers moves on to the next phase. On Saturday 26th April, CWB volunteers began the physical work on site in earnest. And from now until the Park opens and beyond, work will be underway on the five buildings being restored via collaboration between Washington State Parks and CWB: the Boathouse, the Boatsman's Cabin, the Shop, the Fire Truck Garage, and an Instructor's Cabin. AmeriCorps Volunteer Scott Brandenberger moved on site Friday 25th April to help coordinate the volunteer efforts.And the good news just keeps coming. Funding has now been secured to allow Greg Reed to take the helm as CWB Cama Beach's full time Manager. We ne= ed volunteers!         =             &nb= sp;            =             &nb= sp;            =             &nb= sp;            =             &nb= sp;             The Pacific Challe= nge is an annual event hosted each year by a different port community. Comp= etitions are designed to test the nautical skills and knowledge of young ma= riners aged 14-18 aboard traditional wooden longboats and gigs.  This = year CWB will be hosting the weekend-long event, and we need your help! If = you are ready and willing to hop into the kitchen, onto the racecourse or b= ehind the scenes between May 16th and 18th, contact Katherine Di= ngman by email or phone. Spend a day working outdoors o= n Camano Island!        &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;           &nbs= p;            &= nbsp;    

While some of the more = technical restoration will be done by contractors, we need volunteer 3D"Camahelp to prepar= e the buildings, to undertake repairs, to paint and generally get the build= ings back into shape.  Work p= arties will be organized to address specific elements of the project near a= nd longer term, but every day - weekdays and weekends - CWB welcomes volunt= eers on site to help with the work. Another volunteer to celebrate!
Long time volunteer Rich Kolin will be speaking for the Pacific Northwest Historians Guild Tuesday May = 13th in the Meeting Room of the University Branch of the Seattle Public Lib= rary at 5:30pm.
The Northwest's association with= small boats began immediately with the first European settlers and continu= es today with Rich Kolin who has been building traditional designs.<= font face=3D"Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif"> The evening's talk is a two part presentat= ion on the Small Craft of Puget Sound Titled:  Small craft in the days= of oar and sail in the Puget Sound and the history of small craft in the f= amous oyster industry at Shoalwater Bay.
