Each month CWB finds a speaker of wit and experience to talk about his or her special knowledge. It is also an opportunity for CWB members to meet one another and the staff. Admission is free. Refreshments are served (donations to cover costs are appreciated). Everyone is welcome!
The Story of the Disappearing Propeller Boats

Bob Hollingsworth has explored, through archives, oral history and direct experience, the history of the Disappearing Propeller Motorboat Company. Bob will talk about the design, construction and restoration of a DISPRO boat and its engine. Also, Bob will recount his Dippy Club "Misery Cruise" on Lake Huron, an annual event for the Dippy clan. This will be an incredible story by an exuberant speaker on the boats and boating in an almost forgotten area north of Toronto.

Cedar Charnley will tell the story of how a vision born in a kitchen blossomed into a 23'9" vessel, built by 8 friends as a learning experience. Then they took their open oar & sail powered boat from its building site on Lopez Island to SE Alaska. All within 9 months!
The Schooner Wawona

Joe Follensbee, the author of the recently published book "Shipbuilders, Sea Captains and Fishermen: The Story of the Schooner Wawona", will tell us more than the dry statistics of this 100 year old schooner. We will hear the inside scoops of the builder, captain and crews of the nationally historic 165' lumber and cod fishing vessel. We will hear of the ingenuity, courage, seamanship and quirky antics of the people whose hearts, souls and callused hands made Wawona the legend she is.
