27th
Annual
Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival
July 4, 5 & 6, 2003 (Friday - Sunday)
10 a.m. - 6 p.m. each day
Our 27th Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival will be held July 4-6, 2003. As always, we will host well over one hundred visiting boats of all sizes and types, from dinghies to dreadnoughts (okay, maybe not dreadnoughts, but if a wooden one wants to come, we'll figure out how to accommodate it!). Our best brains are hard at work figuring out how to outdo ourselves and make this Festival the best one ever. We'll feature our classics: toyboatbuilding, free boat rides, the Quick and Daring Boatbuilding contest and, of course, an assortment of the most beautiful boats you'll ever lay eyes on, all of which are open for boarding. We will hold our 3-year old Pirate model regatta open to all Festival guests. This year, we're introducing our Cultural Exchange International program with a special guest from Thailand. There will be racing, food, music and lots of activities for the whole family.
If you think this is some musty academic 3-day treatise on the proper use of tar to prevent worm damage, think again! Think party! Think steam whistles! Think yummy food, cold beer and danceable music. Think learning how to tie your brother to the chair when you want to play with his Gameboy! Stay tuned for more updates on activities, but draw a big red circle on the calendar now.
