Special Projects and At Risk Youth Program
Students learn maritime heritage hands on!

Special Projects
The Center for Wooden Boats is always willing to consider or design special projects for youth, during the academic year, or summertime. If you have a group of students interested in maritime heritage and hands-on skills, please contact Jake Beattie, Youth Program Manager, to arrange a special project.

Examples of special projects in the past are:

At Risk Youth Programs
We've established a number of partnerships with Seattle area groups who bring youth of diverse backgrounds to The Center for Wooden Boats for a variety of activities. We have ongoing grant writing to support our youth programs

All Aboard
In partnership with Seattle Mental Health, The Center for Wooden Boats has conducted several summer teambuilding and life skills programs centered around boatbuilding and sailing activities. Through these programs, students have built, restored and repaired an Aleutian Umiak, a skin-on-frame pram and a wooden scow.
